The most romantic day of the year of coming up this weekend. St. Valentine’s Day started as a Catholic holiday to honor Valentine of Rome and Valentine of Terri, two early Christian martyrs.
The first connection of Valentine’s Day to romance and love came in the Middle Ages with a line in Geoffrey Chaucer’s poem Parlement of Foules; “For this was on St. Valentine’s Day, when every bird cometh there to choose his mate.”
Now Valentine’s Day has turned into a holiday of cards, chocolates, roses and those little candy hearts. Another popular Valentine’s tradition is sharing a meal with the one you love. Nothing says love like a plateful of our homemade red velvet pancakes or waffles.
If you are coming into the city for a night of romance stop into Chicago Waffles before, or after, your exciting evening.
