7 types of food that’s good for your brain

Eating healthy is very important. The food we eat impacts our body health and even our mood, but it also has a big effect on our brain health. Some foods can actually improve our memory and concentration. Let’s see what types of food are good for your brain.

The first thing on the list is coffee. If you are a coffee person, you probably already know the benefits that this little drink has on our health, but let’s see if you know everything. Beside the fact that caffeine can boost your mood, it also keeps your brain alert and improves your concentration. We’ll enjoy our morning coffee even more now!

Nuts contain nutrients that have beneficial effects on our brain health. Those nutrients are healthy fats, antioxidants and vitamin E.

We already wrote about the benefits that eggs can have on our health. Eggs are a rich source of vitamins B6 and B12, folate and choline. B vitamins and folic acid can help slow the progression of mental decline (among other things). Choline is a nutrient that helps regulate our mood and memory. Omelette anyone?

There’s nothing better than a freshly squeezed orange juice in the morning. Don’t you agree? Oranges are high in vitamin C and we know that vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps fight off the free radicals. Vitamin C in our body is also associated with improvement in memory, focus and attention.

Broccoli is very rich in vitamin K which is essential for our brain cells. Beside vitamin K, broccoli also contains nutrients which are good for our memory.

Some fish are a very rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids, which our brain uses to build brain and nerve cells. Omega 3 fatty acids are essential for learning and memory, as well as improving our mood. Fish that contain Omega 3 fatty acids are fatty fish like salmon, albacore tuna, trout, sardines and herrings.

Last, (but most certainly not least) on our list of foods that are good for your brain is dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is very nutritious and it has many benefits on our health. Some of the minerals that dark chocolate contains are iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and selenium. It’s also rich in fiber and those good fats that we all need for a healthy brain.
